: First you have to define what a perfect game is. Obviously, a perfect game
: would expend the least ammo, and take the least damage. But, does a
: perfect game complete the level in the fastest time possible? Does it kill
: every monster? Does it show all the secrets?
: Depending on the definition, it's even possible there are multiple
: conceivable perfect games per random seed!
I think a perfect game would definitely have these requirements: expend the least amount of ammo possible, take the least amount of damage possible, kill every monster possible and show all secrets, if possible.
: It would be an interesting experiment to focus on just one level, and one
: given random seed. If you could select the level and type in a specific
: seed (like Freecell) in Aleph One, the remaining Vidmasters could start
: submitting films and iterate towards the perfect game.
Now we just need to find a way to control how Marathon picks the seed. It's got to be somewhere in the code, but where? Perhaps someone could make a Lua script for Aleph One that forces the game to use a particular seed? Oh, seeds, delicious, at least if you're a Vidmaster. ;)
