Well then I'd be wrong if I said both were "Defend This big platform room at the start."

Hmmmm.... the Marathon Spoiler Guide:
Many people get stuck in the first part of the level. They enter a five sided room, which is an elevator that goes up and down only once, but there is no other exits from it. Actually the exit is secret: in the left side of the wall across from the sole enterance there is a secret door. However, it is slightly off the ground, such that you have to ride the elevator a bit to continue on.
Geee, I think he woulda said the room killed ya. SO M1A1 IS A HERETICAL VARIANT and kills you?
So I assume I don't remember the first time I played M1 correctly. I remember being pissed off, but that could be because the thing went up and down once and I couldn't get to the door.
That would mean the first time I walked into a "suicide trap" would be ... uh ... the multi-plat corridor to the chip rooms in Defend This. But that isn't a trap...
Hmm... I can't remember the level but there were some smallish octagonal rooms that would crush you and also would crush some Pfhor sometimes....
