: I guess that's three possible [?analogs] for the Elites: the S'pht in their
: story role (also for the whole proud-warrior-race portrayal and the
: revering of the Jjaro/Forerunner(s)), the Hunters physically, and the
: Enforcers in their role in the enemy society.
Actually I was thinking the other way around; Enforcers = Prophets, Fighters (and Troopers and maybe Hunters) = Elites. Both because Enforcers faces look more like Prophet faces and because they appear to be in a commanding role, at least according to some indications.
Also, I'm looking at this whole thing from a "given that Halo was, in an earlier lifetime, set in the Marathon universe, what features of its characters/plot/etc would have evolved from features of Marathon characters/plot/etc?" To that extent, I think the S'pht-Elite connection is completely untenable. Other than both rebelling, there's no similarities between them; the Elites were founding members of the Covenant, and until their recent betrayal by their supposed partners the Prophets, the highest ranks amongst the Covenant; while the S'pht were always just slaves, lowly conditioned ranks. The Enforcer/Fighter relationship (using "Fighter" here to mean "the three-eyed Pfhor species", as opposed to the seven-eyed Enforcer species) seems much more similar to the Prophet/Elite relationship, IMO.
