My theory on weapons is that almost all the human weapons are earlier versions of whats in halo, Halo 2. This may just be rumors, but I heard there will be a dual wieldable shotgun In Halo 3. Alien weapons not so much. The fusion pistol, I would assume, is bungies early take on the plasma pistol.
