I'd say Elites are closest to S'pht in their story role, being members of the enemy side who begin fighting back against their masters midway through the series. In gameplay terms you could say Troopers, but I think Hunters are a closer match - full-body armor plating, lots of hitpoints and a rapid energy weapon.
