The other day I finally sat down at a white board and started fleshing out the particulars of the model I have been using and found all sorts of problems. It turns out identity is rather low on the things I need to worry about... :)
Cause and effect is giving me issues, and I suddenly realized that in my model there is no past. If a particular object can only exist at one point in a four-dimensional model and everything is moving forward along one of those axes (time) than nothing would exist behind the lowest point. The "past" would not exist, which obviously casts interesting shadows on time-travel.
Whoops.
In the process of watching my model hit three or four walls, I think I understood more of what you meant by the ribbons example you gave a while back.
So, until further notice, I am now deferring to the model you were describing with hyper-time.
Thanks for the wake-up call, and your last post helped me find the problems. If I ever find a clever solution to these issues, I would love to run them by you. :)
