That statement was made less than a year after Infinity's release. It's the Greg Kirkpatrick quote from July 1997, which was cited in the first message of this thread.

Two people probably wouldn't come to the same conclusion after one play through the game each and no contact with each other. But then, a bunch of independent scientists looking at the same (real) world often come up with different theories of that world. It's only by pointing out the flaws and missed bits of data in each other's theories that they're able to come to consensus and converge toward the truth. Same thing with this trying to understand the details of Infinity's plot. Everybody can easily come to consensus on the rough parts of it (roughly where the breaks in the timelines are, what events happen in what order, etc). It's just the details that people quibble about, and the larger background universe that is just mentioned in passing here and there.
