That actually makes sense. Infinity also had Durandal's S'pht go rampant, so it seems they really expanded the idea of rampancy.

Perhaps Durandal is to the player-character as Gheritt White is to the man in the dreams?

It has been suggested that the Gheritt White terminal is Durandal's experience of achieving rampancy, the Dreams are basically the same principle.

In any case, the dreams appear to be a loose allegory. I have not plunged into them recently... so I am a little rusty on what they actually say.
