I would hate to see a Revamped : A1 Engine because that would take away certain rights of people to make : mods based on Marathon for Other games (like Unreal Tournament Game of the : Year Edition I assume you mean a revamped Marathon game in a new engine? In any case, Bungie has always had a great regard for modders' rights, recognizing them as one of the Bungie community's greatest strengths. I'm sure they'd find a way to stop whatever disaster you're describing. : or for what I am planning to beging in the Summer of 2007, a : MOD for Half-Life 2 Deathmatch's version of Valve's Source Engine). In general, people who announce projects that massive before they've even started working on them tend to be totally unprepared for the amount of work involved; and are extremely unlikely to stick at it for more than a couple of weeks once they realize how hard it is. (I used to make this mistake, and I sounded exactly like you.) Of course you can start it if you want, but you're acting like you think it'll be easy. I had to object to that in case someone else was getting excited. : It : would be a bummer to have to pay for something that has already been : released to the public. What are we talking about again? Just because they're (HYPOTHETICALLY) remaking Marathon, doesn't mean they'd un-release something that's already been released for free. Even Microsoft would not be such jerks. Even if it's legally possible, there's no way they could stem the tide of spoiled whiny fanboys posting the not-very-huge games on all manner of websites and file-sharing systems. (Footnote: The loud "hypothetically" wasn't direct at you, but at anyone else who might see that sentence and be like "omg marathon remake".)
