Well, there's always, as you said, the "history repeats itself" theory. Also, in Marathon Infinity, aren't you time traveling? So, couldn't you have messed with the timeline, which might explain the "link" between HALO and Marathon...if there is any link...I've played through Marathon Infinity, but I got so confused I just started running around blowing the crap out of everything, just to blow the crap out of everything. I'd read as many terminals as I could find, but I just got more confused...so, yeah.
