I agree with Yoss here. Hey, I was only agreeing with your own observation! I'm not very good with spelling myself, but not careless with it either. My 4th grade teacher cured me of that - she knocked off one full letter grade for each misspelled word in any assignment. Ouch! Didn't take me long to learn to grab the dictionary if I was in doubt.
