The interesting thing about this passage that I'm surprised nobody has ever mentioned is, it appears to imply that the Pfhor TELEPORTED a ship. Perhaps the Pfhor FTL drives are actually just really big, long-range transporters.. their jumps are referred to as "folding"... and since Pfhor technology is implicitly stolen from Jjaro technology, and the Jjaro could beam entire moons around by bending spacetime, perhaps Marathon transporters are basically just personal wormholes or some such - you are folded in on yourself through a hole in space and unfold somewhere else. It would match the TME and the in-game effect (which is supposed to BE the TME).
