I recieved an detailed response From Yossarian shortly after my post regarding the shortfalls of the primary pistol.
After following his suggustions, this is the result:

Perhaps this modification (potentially for use in WMaiD) is more workable? It has 30 instead of 90 rounds of ammunition, a 'banana' clip, and front grip.
