Excellent thought. I just checked it out and I can't imagine getting trapped here unless there is a corrupted saved game. There are two initial platforms and only the inner one is the trigger. Because the doorway is only 1wu high, it's almost impossible to step onto the trigger and then hightail it back out before the platforms are too high. Maybe using the rocket launcher, but you'd get what you deserve if you tried that stunt.
I've just taken a cursory look at every level in the scenario, and on first glance can't find any platforms that don't either reverse or have a switch next to them that can be used to get them back down. Unless I'm missing something, my best guess is that the Battle Cat either had a corrupted saved game, or he didn't notice the available switch.
