I agree with tycho, good advice for everyone. But since you take a more active role in the community you're bound to be dealing with more people who want to butt heads. Some of that is unavoidable, you make some damn good maps and a lot of people can't or aren't at that skill level yet, and a large part of this community are kids; so yeah people are going to be immature. As a moderator i think you do a fine job, you're swift and not afraid to make a call on what is or isn't acceptable then explain it. And with so many kids an abrasive tone is largely an effective tone.
A community leader is a completely different role and requires a lot more dedication, diplomacy and selflessness. A good community leader that is. It appears to me that you walk the line of wanting to be a leader or just a moderator. And i think that's where the sparks come from, at least the only sparks worth noting.
