: and watched
: as the screen glitch out (turn a shade of green, and tile in 3" wide
: vertical bands). Numerous strangled and frantic beeping sounds emit from
: the speakers, and the internal fan (on the left side) continually rev up
: and down. The screen went black after about 10 seconds of this - and would
: not respond to anything until I unplugged it and pulled the battery. When
: the battery OR the A/C are plugged back in, it doesn't startup or respond
: - only the vaccume-cleaner like fan kicks up again.
: If anyone has a sugestion - please post here. :(
Well, it could be as simple as resetting the PMU (look on Apple's support pages for 'PowerBook PMU Reset') or as complicated as having to re-solder or replace the Sound Board (the AC connector is on the sound board), PMU board, Logic Board or Processor module. The last two are expensive, and the first two are no longer available through Apple service. So really, your options are to have a tech take it apart and see if the AC connector needs re-soldering (a competent tech knows about this, as the AC connector on those boards often craps out) or find used parts...All in all, if it's not the PMU reset, or the Sound Board, as much as it pains me to say, you're better off trying to look into getting something new :(
