Marathon Rubiocn is a kick-ass 3rd party scenario - IMO the best 3rd party scenario ever, although a lot of people here will disagree. If nothing else, it is by far the most polished 3rd party scenario with all new textures, weapons and sound effects. I once led a volunteers series on Rubicon and put the entire discussion on-line on my own website, which also includes a secrets guide. This was my major claim to fame that catapulted me to a top-10 poster. With any luck, an AO-enhanced version of Rubicon with some of the best high-res textures ever seen and some new levels will be coming out this summer. There may even be a new story plank added.

But you're getting ahead of yourself. My advice is to finish the original trilogy first. Once you've done that, come back here for recommendations on 3rd party scenarios. I have my own recommended list, as does everyone else here.
