In Response To: Marathon is so, SO misunderstood (Starship Security Officer)

: How the hell did these people get mixed up? Aside from graphics, was that all
: people cared about in these games? Just that they had the most aggressive
: action? Is that what is behind this goo-goo die-hard obsession with the
: overrated crunk of shit known as Unreal Tournament? And the obsession with
: Halo? And Deus Ex? Strange that I have never noticed this before. People
: seem to not get the entire point of Marathon. It was not just to present
: fps action, but also to challenge, to involve, to bring emotion and
: intrigue to the player, as well as an interesting plot. And yet this is
: what people saw of it. Maybe that's why most misunderstand it.

: I just don't get it. Why?

First of all, normal people don't want to dig for the fun. It wants it right in their arms. That's why they listen to pop music and play action only games. Myself, i want to dig deeper for the treasures, and the more you deep the better things you find. Great music, great games (Marathon) and so on.

And what do you have against Unreal Tournament, Halo and Deus Ex? All of them GREAT games. It looks like you are no better than those people that underrated Marathon. Those are all GREAT games. And very well developed. For example UT is on my list over all time greatest FPS's. (not the new UT's, just the original UT)
