You're back in the Pfhor ship, and it's just as you left it, except that the "home base" at the beginning of the level has been deactivated. As Steve and John have pointed out, there's a real lack of pattern buffers this late in the scenario. On the way to the ship, you somehow found time to evolve four new Organic powers, represented by the Fusion Mace and the Omega Cannon.
The level is exactly like Tastes Like Evil, but it's not simply a copy of the level- parts of the some of the puzzles have been solved already. Permanently open doors remain open, and the blood has been lowered in the blood run puzzle (in hindsight, I should have realized this is a clue that it's possible to lower the blood on Tastes Like Evil). Unfortunately, the bridge to the second half of the level has been lowered, so you do have to go through the blood run again. Now there's no need to use any special tricks, so pulverize any monsters you come across and simply go around to the "brain" area; there's no need to find the switch in the ship's intestines. All the ammo has been removed from the second section of the ship, but the teleporting enemies are still present. The door to Joshua's temple is open from the start, so there's no need to visit the 3 columns room. The eye in the blood pool has healed, so break it again. As you enter the corridor to the temple teleporter, look at the columns on the right- someone has defaced Joshua's symbol with a bloody X. Uh oh... When you return to the temple, the void has changed; now there's a rocky outcropping floating in space where Joshua's seat of power used to be. But before you jump out, look at the wall behind the north pillar in the temple. Apparently Joshua is a Bungie fan :P This sticker dates back to around the time of Macworld NY 2000, when Bungie was distributing these Oni stickers and tales were told of all the improbable places they had been stuck at E3, the greatest being the ass of a six-foot plastic Pikachu. This inspired a pair of legendary SackMasters to top that feat on a statue in New York City (the statue remembering the sinking of the battleship Maine in 1898. Strangely enough, one of those SackMasters went on to work with Ian on Mac Hall. Seriously, there's a conspiracy. I'm sure of it. Step into the void and approach the rock to be teleported to the extremely short level Chaos Inc. This is effectively part of the same place, the level jump is only to change the texture collection and also to get a bit more space to work with in the map view. You rise up to see what Joshua has in store for you after your betrayal, but instead you arrive in a stony arena strongly reminiscent of You Think You're Big Time. Standing in the center of this arena is... Michael?! And he looks like he's holding... ...oh... ...shit. |
