In Response To: Re: Frankie's Back. With an update ;-) (Cody Miller) : I have no problem for it not being included. I have a problem it not begin : included FOR REASONS STATED by 343. Hence the need for public relations. Many of the decisions made by developers and publishers would no doubt appear contemptuous if made public, which is why they aren't. Pointing out the differences (sometimes slight, sometimes gross) between a corporate institution's public acts and public statements is probably a fruitless exercise-- although I would argue that the willingness to parse the public statements and infer the motivations for the public acts is probably quite useful, especially when making purchase decisions. : In the end though, this isn't a strike against the game, since as a port it's
While in absolute terms one can argue that it can be no worse, but only better, than Halo 1, by adding some new features, there is, of course, the purchase issue-- since I already own Halo 1 (in multiple incarnations for multiple platforms). Is this version that much better than others that have been available for years that it warrants that new purchase? For some, yes. For some, no, because it doesn't include unique competitive multiplayer, or because it lacks some other feature they would have preferred be included. I do think, though, that beyond just the individual question of "is this worth $40 to me" it may be possible to ask, and definitively answer, the question of whether or not taking a game that cost $50 ten years ago, sprucing up the graphics and adding one network feature, and throwing in a map pack for a multiplayer mode ripped out of another game (one which much of the audience already owns) creates a product that is worth $40. I'm leaning towards no. Not when Halo 1 on Games on Demand is $15. New graphics and online coop does not make this game more than 100% better than it used to be.
