I imagine that the hindgut is like the fish/reptile/bird cloaca and would indeed do it all, even mating. So never accept a kiss from an Elite even if you are drunk. You could end up like Tucker! I imagine that the hindgut is eversible and erectile. The elite can extend it out from the mouth and as it everts (turns inside out) the inside rolls out until the bolus of poo emerges. It then rolls back in so that the dirty part is well inside the tube before it reaches the mouth. Take a long sock. Put a ping pong ball inside, all the way to the toe area. Grab the ball, which is inside the toe, from the outside and push the sock inside out until the ball appears. The sock unrolls a long way before the ball pops out. Imagine that there was a sphincter just in front of the ball to keep dirty bits from reaching the higher parts of the inside of the sock. The sphincter isn't exposed until the sock is fully turned inside out (everted). Your fingers holding the ball act like the sphincter. The ball doesn't come out until you open your fingers. So everything is fully outside the mouth before poo hits air. Elite breath could be minty fresh. I imagine that they perform the same trick when mating. I was going to include a link on scienceblogs showing a video of a duck penis in action but I think that its too disturbing even for HBO. It goes from nothing to over 20cm in under a third of a second. It corkscrews and has backwards pointing spines. If anyone has a strong stomach then they can find it with the power of Google. but, seriously, if you think that you might find it disturbing then don't bother. You will be disturbed.
