However, it : seems unlikely it would be 22 years later, since smart AIs can only exist : for 7. Therefore, that puts the legendary ending of Halo Wars at most 7 : years after the game's conclusion. The Cole Protocol says that at 7 years there's a procedure to terminate an AI by law. It's because it's "statistically probable" that rampancy will ensue, not a guarantee. That's the 'new' canon.
