It's because it's "statistically probable" that rampancy : will ensue, not a guarantee. That's the 'new' canon. To combine some ideas, Chief and SoF rendezevous, but Serina was unstable for too long, so SoF is poorly lit and not everyone made it and etc. I really like this idea though. I really really want to see more from both series at this point. Note to other people in continuing projects- we're starting to get a lot of people and equipment Lost in Space here. The more clogged it gets, the less we're going to like it when you use it as a scapegoat rather than kill off or explain the final destination of your characters. Don't rely on it.
