Yes that is odd. What do they need a ring for when they have found the Ark? I find it hard to believe that its impossible to fire the rings from the Ark without first activating from a ring then cancelling. Did Truth just want Regret, and his Elites, away from Earth? Did he order him away or just suggest that he use his Elite forces to secure the ring? Just to get most of the Elites away from Earth. It could be spun as a task worthy of the Elites rather than a slap in the face. Then the Brutes could be landed on Earth without any aggro from the Elites. : Perhaps it wasn't until Guilty Spark was interrogated by Truth and Mercy
Then the Brutes must have been part of Regret's fleet right from the start or they wont arrive at Earth until too late to feature in ODST. : Hopefully, for once, they'll explain more than just how Halo's and the Flood
They can't possibly miss that out, forget the Elites, Halo isn't Halo wiyhout trying to explain how the Halos and the Flood work. I mean, imagine the howls of outrage from the fans! :-)
