Yeah I read it and I'm cautious still. If all Robert McLees said was "Its Johnson" or something along those lines, well, thats still vague in the circumstances and could be interpreted as the same character or a father or even Grandfather. The name 'Johnson' would be consistant throughout.
Unless it was specifically said its the exact same Johnson who is in the games, its still a little grey. Even I'm saying its a picture of Corporal A.J, Johnson, I don't think there is any doubt about that.
But is it the -same- A.J. Johnson?
(Yes, I'm clutching onto the hope its not as I -really- don't want something so cliché as genetically enhanced soldier who ages at a much slower rate. If that's how it turns out, so be it, I shan't complain and will accept it completely. But while there is still threads of doubt, I'd prefer to avoid it).
As for the Spartan's age/appearence in Armour Testing, its another grey area. Comic book art isn't always the best for judging ages as each artists style is so different, especially in the HGN. Its never really been said the Spartan II's were enhanced on a genetic level either. They already have near 'perfect' genes, but while that would give them a long life, almost eternally youthful looks would seem a stretch.
Shaving about 10 years off a persons looks is one thing, 20 even.
Shaving off about 40 or 50 though? That's a bitter pill.
If Johnson as we know him was that important and that experienced its just hard to understand why he hasn't gone very far.
We can only hope the truth of his past is detailed at some point.
