: To put it in terms of Halo 2: You have the bomb, and you are sneaking into
: Do you [A] Continue past him hoping your team's sniper takes him out. Knowing
: Or do you [B] Assassinate him and continue on to try and plant the bomb? : The answer is pretty obvious to me. Not necessarily. Remember, the bomb is right about to go off; the assault team has already taken Fire Control and the bomb is ready to blow. There's no need to blast the station with the bomb about to blow up anyway. There's no need to destroy the station, ergo, the carrier doesn't bother to fire on it. Think of it as you sneaking by the sniper, and you know your own team's sniper has him lined up in his sights and has his finger on the trigger. : Yes. In fact, we have proof with the explosion of the Malta and Athens. They
No. The bombs detonated inside the stations, not outside of them. There's a big difference in that. Youd rop a frag grenade into a tank, it blows up the tank from the inside and kills it. You drop the same grenade outside the tank, you'll do a lot less damage. Same basic principle. Getting the bomb inside the armor does more damage, which is why they brought bombs on board rather than just threw them at the stations. : Still, what's the rest of the Human fleet doing lollygagging in space while a
What exactly can the human fleet do about the Covenant carrier? Its in-atmosphere, and most UNSC ships can't enter atmosphere without crashing and burning. A frigate like IAC can't get too close to it without getting toasted by plasma torpedoes.
