The reason why the general assumption is that UNSC ships get burned out from nukes was during the battle at Sigma Octanus, where the Iriquois lost fifteen percent of its electronics from the EMP generated by the nuke they used, which was at a very long distance. Even the Commonwealth couldn't use its nukes at a hundred thousand kilometers because the danger the EMP presented....I think. I'll need to check FoR again, but Shiva EMPs reach out to tremendous distances. | |
