Remember that : the 343 Guilty Spark was glad to see that some of us "survived to : reproduce" in the Library...what if the Prophets messed up last time : and some humans escaped the activation (by using the Ark?), but "THIS : time" none of us will make it. A 100,000 year-old grudge would : certainly explain why the Prophets hate us so much. : So, Covenant religion just a cover for the Prophets to hunt down the remnants : of humanity that survived the rings' activation? How do the Flood fit into : this? Speculate/shoot down away. : The sub-title "100 000 Year's War" does appear in one of the levels : in Halo 2. The last time Halo's weapons were activated was just over : 100,000 local (to Halo) years ago. This does seem too strong a coincidence : to just ignore they may be related. : I believe that Michael is correct in saying that the Prophets have a : "grudge" against humanity. However, I don't think he quite put : the motives together or the sequence of events. : The Prophets did not activate (at least knowingly) the last firing of Halo. I : am confident of this because Prophets are not reclaimers, nor are any of : the other Covenant species. Only humans appear as reclaimers. Only humans : can activate Halo. : Another point is that 100,000 year war implies that the war has been going on : for a long time, but more literally that the war started 100,000 years : ago. I believe this to strongly imply that the war started with the last : firing of Halo. : Based on this, I conclude that humans activated Halo around 100,000 local : years ago, took the ark with whatever else was to be saved and left : everything else behind , including the Prophets. This started the 100,000 : year war and is the motive behind the contempt for humans demonstrated by : the Prophets. Wouldn’t the Prophets be finishing what the humans started, instead of “to finish what we started,” if the humans were indeed the ones to fire the Halos and set the war into motion? From the dialogue of the Prophets, who have already demonstrated that their words cannot be trusted, it sounds like they rather seem to believe that humans should not have survived the first Halo blast, and are grouping humans with the Flood in what should have been and needs to be cleansed from the galaxy. Also, if the Prophets knew or suspected that the Humans were responsible for firing the Halos, why would Regret have been surprised to find Humans on Earth, or more specifically, near the Ark?
