I assume the russian fighter was the yak-141? If thats the case the F-35 dosnt have that problem. The -141 uses a vectoring nozzle and 2 lift jets. lift jets are very hot. the F-35 on the other hand uses a lift fan [ie propeller], as such the ground is kept cool by it.
