Still, you do have damage control techs, have you seen the new Battlestar gallactica miniseries? plenty of damage control there. Basicly they are going to put out fires [which we see plenty of], make structural patches, jury rig busted systems, repreassurise busted compartments, unstick airlock doors, masicly stuff of time critical importance. Note however that they may contribute to the general maintence, only being broken off for auctual damge control. : regarding aircraft maintenance: there's not much in the way of crew in the

Thats more than enough time for all the routine maintenece to have been performed, and them to be gassed up [though not armed, presumably due to safety concerns], at that stage they where all ready to go, just needed to turn the key;). Also look at all the crap in the hanger bays on Cairo Station; containers, crates, diagnostic computers, etc. Hell, even tanks require maintencec, though normally this is performed by the tanks crew and who ever is around. : regarding MAC techs: Cairo's gun is massive. one would presume that you'd

Nav and comms station. On real ships, and AWACS as well this stuff is done in a seperate room and the gist of it relayed to these stations. Then its reported to the captain who makes decisions. If he had all the info coming through he would rapidly get overwhelmed. : regarding laundry people: ARGH. how could i possibly forget that? SHAME ON YOU!
