In Response To: Re: In Amber Clad loadout discussion (OldNick) : A little nitpicking, and some more figures for context: For the later
: Crew (average): 6286 total, broken down as: Ship crew: 203 officers, 3205

what flight sim game? just curious. because then i have to go out, buy it and scrutinize your work :P okay, so it looks like i underestimated support crew just a tad (too much time reading Starship Troopers, doubtless). regarding damage control techs: we really don't see many onboard, as far as i can recall. most of the time, when damage occurs, the injured compartments are sealed off, and the vessel makes for a repair station. it seems to me that most staff are for routine upkeep - probably because if a Covie weapon hits, it hits HARD, and there's not much to be done about it besides lock it off for later. regarding aircraft maintenance: there's not much in the way of crew in the hangars, did you notice? in the intro cutscene, there's a Longsword docked in a launch bay, just sitting there. now, one would assume that it needs to be refueled, rearmed, scrubbed down, whatever - but nobody's so much as looking at it. the Pelicans are all suspended above the floor, so i'd imagine that manual service is a bit difficult. it seems that the aircraft are largely serviced by a) automated means, b) their flight crew(s) or c) something i haven't considered feasible. most likely c, but i'm spelling it out for my own sake. regarding MAC techs: Cairo's gun is massive. one would presume that you'd need a goodly amount of people in there to maintain it - but all that's in there is a few marines. either the crew made a run for it, or they got incinerated, or they're wearing marine armor, or there's an automated system for it instead. regarding navigation and comms: they're on the bridge. you can read the signs above the little computer stations, which tell their purpose. regarding laundry people: ARGH. how could i possibly forget that? --dude1 |
