I don't know where the plugin is from then but it is appearing in the plugins menu for the Beta versions only. Even Beta 1 had this HD Textures plugin in the menu.

Alpha 4 doesn't have the "HD textures" plugin but it crashes anyway for some reason. The log still gives the error as "Unhandled exception: std::bad_alloc (shell.cpp:381)" sans quotes.

Beta 5 works fine with the mysterious HD textures plugin turned off but turning it on crashes the game. If that is low res, then yes it does work.

The older builds like Beta 3 have garish placeholder textures that display when the plugin is off.









The Beta 5 textures with the mystery plugin turned off look like this, but if the HD textures are not meant to be a plugin, I have no idea if the ones in the screenshots are non HD or not.

No. The newer versions don't have the Pathways into Darkness monsters (except the banshees) and I like the PID monsters. The older version does. I was however, intended to point out the differences that I know of as I find them e.g. new W'rk monsters and Flames of Icarus/Flight of Icarus.
