: Try this . :) Although I don't doubt the scientific evidence that we are getting taller, I'm not so sure that you can rely on the height of doorways to tell you how tall people were. There is another interesting theory that I once heard about the height of doorways which was that the doors were made lower to prevent all the heat leaving the room when the door was opened. It wasn't seen as such a problem to have to stoop into a room if it meant you didn't have to heat it all over again. Often these old places have higher ceilings. Mind you, I've cracked my head on many a low door and ceiling in old places in the UK, but perhaps thats just cos I'm used to the normal 6'6'' variety. (Or just stupid - yeah thanks) Maybe it's BS but I thought I'd share that anyway. Maybe Forerunner were real short dudes with a liking for really tall doorways - just to cause confusion in the speculation of us generations to come? :o)
