Covenant armor

I doubt very much if the armor that the elites wear has much to do with the forerunners. The materiel may be a forerunner formula, but it's the energy shields that make Covenant ships so hard to kill. They stand up well to hits once they lose the shields, but so does the Pillar of Autumn. When the point is made that the covies "adapt" rather than "innovate", they mean that stuff like the armor and shields are made by the covenant, but are based on technology that they did not invent. I don't thin the idea was that elites pull forerunner armor off and ancient coatrack and wear it into battle.

After all... the ancient humans wouldn't have had haunches, would they?
