Well here is a thought I've been trying to suppress but now it has to come out.

First the rhinoceros is nature's firefighter, a sort of animal guardian of the lands. So rhinos have been around on Earth for around 50 million years and now I'm looking at the Covenant and how the artists made the legs and feet kind of rhino looking... Are the Covenant part rhino?

Well were the Forerunners Hippos? Yet another example of speculation.
