Ya know, a game can have secrets without people having to run through hoops to unlock them. ;P I'd also point out that your talk of "cloaked vehicles" and "weapon upgrades" sounds like you think you know Halo 2. Ya don't. Don't forget it, you'll start coming up with how much fun you'll have in all these different levels, and then you'll find none of what you expected, and just be disappointed. Besides, the best secrets are the ones that are right there, in front of you, laughing in your face. That is where the mysteries of the game should be. You shouldn't have to go to some length to get into a random nook in the map, to find a secret corridor that leads to a secret room that tells you all about the Forerunner. The mysteries that surround Halo 2 shouldn't come from sources like that, it should come from mysterious saying, and signs, plot twists, and sudden shocks of reality. As far as going the way of the FrogBlast (and I don't mean the vent core, naturally), or RM, generally those kinds of tricks are almost exploits of the games physics. Building levels just for that purpose is silly. They don't add to the game AT ALL, no matter what you say. The fact is, people will have just as much fun trying to get out of levels and vehicle jump in the levels where normally you'd be completing a mission as they would in some level designed with the sole purpose of exploiting. In fact, they'll have more fun, because if they get tired of warthog jumping, they can go do something else. Designing maps that do not add to the single player experience, nor the multiplayer, is simply a waste of time. People just don't need levels designed specifically for this purpose. -S |
