well since there is no way to slow down or speed up a projectile , we cannot test your theory, but it would be interesting to have stop-watch style times along with the distance estimations. One, it will be more precise, and two
we can see if they are nice even numbers. Maybe bungie programmed in like 5.5 seconds, or 10.0 seconds. or maybe some significant numbers like the ones discussed in the thread Halo on the brain.

plus you can test the times in different atmospheres, indoor and out, and at higher altitudes, hell underwater I doubt bungie ever thought people would be testing projectile life-spans at different altitudes and in different climates

this is a great game
