In Response To: Re: Probs w/ hacking game saves (Surphis) : i know your hex editor actually, i'm using the same one. hex workshop by : brakpoint, im running 3.11. i guess you are right about the save files : having numerous differences seeing as there is probably data i cant : control. i remember reading somewhere that they put some technology into : it so things would stay the same when MC would walk back into another : area. so maybe it does record those rotating lights positions on a save : point also. just one question, do the offsets for character stats stay the : same across multiple savefiles, atleast for MC? if they do, i would ask : for the offset of the ammo maybe, i could atleast test it out and see, : verify your claims. i just read somewhere that the developer chooses to : put signing on the save files, not sure where exactly, so i might be able : to try it even though i dont have a mod. this could be a rumor, i'll ask : xbill to verify that for me, but honestly i dont see any room for signing : of the file, it just looks like a data dump. code for the directory of : lvls looks like its right in the beginning, and i also see what looks like : a version number for verifification that the save file matches the games : version. so xbill, whats the verdict, is that a rumor or do they have some : kind of hidden verification? eagerly awaiting your reply.... just read my 1st post about the verifcation under the link I attached. but the offsets change depending what NPC's are in the area for instance.. 000xx000x could be MC's position for health in the offset in this string 000xx000x xx011xxx0 00xx00x01 01xx100xx this would mean that3 NPC not inclusing MC are in the area. then in this offset: xxx00x011 000xx000x xx0101x11 master chiefs position moved because there are less NPC's in the area
