In Response To: BTW (Appleicious) Ten hours of 16-player mayhem... absolutely glorious. I'm rather proud of the fact that I led the leaderboard on one of the two actual "tournament" games we managed to play. Admittedly, it was because it was CTF- Blood Gulch and I was spending more time zapping people from long range with the pistol than actually going for the flag, but it boosted my ego for the rest of the night. And I'm gonna gloat about that last come-from-behind victory on Battle Creek until vector cries uncle. "DOUBLE KILL." :) The 16-player rocket arena was insane. I'd never seen so many bodies strewn about in any game, ever... it was beautiful, in a horrific, carnage-happy sort of way. The T-shirts were a cool surprise and much appreciated. I just have to hide the "don't make us kick your ass" slogan from my somewhat draconian parental units. Psyrixx is indeed fucked up, diseased, and just plain sick. ;) A nice little bonus was getting to play some other Xbox games that I'd been eyeing, after most of the people had left. Max Payne didn't do much for me, having gotten too used to Halo's controls to do anything in that inverted setting, but Rallisport Challenge was an absolute blast. Of course, I couldn't be distracted for too long, and after a while went back to some 8-player Halo. One thing that did mar the evening was the fact that someone saw fit to steal my Xbox A/V cable, unplugging it (and just it) and taking it with them. Fortunately, Rico had a spare, having just received a truly impressive set of Monster Cables, and gave it to me. For this I owe him greatly- thanks, if you see this! Overall, I had a blast, and hope we can get another lan party on this scale going soon. Once you've experienced the chaos of a 16-player Halo game, everything else seems boring by comparison. Thanks to Rico, Pfhor, and my fellow door guards for making this a night to remember! |
