Very interesting theory, it was a good read, as you said. I have to disagree with it though since I believe that it has been established that the foreRunner is much older either the covenant or humans. Their ring technology clearly surpasses anything ever encountered in the book or game made by or utilized by the covenant. Also the Covenant sees the ring as a holy place, not an installation that neutralized their homeland.
