In Response To: Visualizing the Halo Universe: Round 4 Winner (Postmortem) Vic Deleon's reference material was extremely helpful, so I thank him for that as well as the encouragement during the sculpt. I started with this sketch, which I changed once I started sculpting.
I wanted to flatten out the body more but it didn't make sense to me how this thing walks around. I kept the arms up too high, like Goro from Mortal Kombat which I think is a mistake. Seeing TD's sketch made more sense to me. I had this idea that it would travel like the Prophets do. I never had time to sketch the vehicle design though. I'm also not happy with the lack of "crystalline" body surface. I'm a noob at ZBrush so I couldn't get the coloring/texture the way I'd like. At any rate it's a fun subject matter and scary to think about how an army of these things engaged in battle. I am highly disappointed that more people didn't enter this round. I'd even love to see a simple sketch with a crayon on a sheet of toilet paper. Forget the contest part, it's the imagining of the Haloverse that is the most fun here. Also when 343 depict these things it's fun to laugh at how wrong you got it. Haha. -Hedge.
