In Response To: Re: Visualizing the Halo Universe: Round 4 (Postmortem) : In all honesty, this was something I was worried about from the onset. My : intention was not to make this into a competition, but I guess the simple : nature of only having one prize to give out per round automatically sheds : that kind of light on it. If it were up to me, there wouldn't be any : rewards and everyone would just submit artwork for the sake of sharing, : but people like incentive. : If I could, I would gladly reward every person who submits, but there's
: I don't know. I'm certainly open to suggestions. My opinion, keep the 'contest' part out of it. I didn't realise it was a contest until 'after' you selected the 'winner' last time. Yeah it was a reading comprehension fail on my part, but the point is I joined in because I wanted to share what my vision is of the subject. If I had realized my entry was going to be scrutinized by a 'one person's opinion on how close it is to canon' contest, I likely wouldn't have used my current style due to my preference of using 'hidden' upper mandibles...if I had bothered to enter at all. I wanted to join in this week, but since it is a 'contest', I decided not to. I probably won't join in again, unless the contest part is dropped completely. Since we are all Halo fans here, I don't think you should need prizes to encourge people to share their vision. Sorry for the bitter tone here....
