So it's not a simple thing, the file access stuff is littered around the code. Abstracting out the file access stuff won't be simple - the TetraBBS folks look like they've been meaning to do this for a couple of years now :) This is not a trivial task!

There's also a concern here that WebBBS/TetraBBS isn't open source really, but I think as long as we're working on this for Claude and he's not going to redistribute it, I think the current license would be respected.

Part of me wants to start from scratch with a new system which replicates the functionality, perhaps based on PHP rather than Perl, but that is a bigger endeavour altogether :)
