It would cost more but not much. Having been a scale modeler since the late 70's, I can attest to the increase in materials needed to be laugh-worthy. I'm sure they sold a lot. Many people wouldn't care as I do about that. I have dealt with what the scale model industry refers to as 'box scale' my whole life and I'm sick of it. Some companies are figuring it out now but it's taken a lot of complaining my modelers over decades to make this progress. 'Box scale' refers to making the subject matter fit inside a standardized box, rather than making the subject matter available in a consistent scale, regardless of box size. Too often it's the bane of sci-fi modelers like myself because the subject matter can vary so much. So for Weta to produce a piece that's sooo close to actual size and then skimp on a mere 9% of it just makes me shake my head. Swing and a miss. I don't regret forgoing the purchase.
