Soooo, exactly how is this different from COD? Guy earns a bunch of credits, ranks up to Major Grade III, and BAM! BR unlocked. 343I has been insistent that "Oh no. It's not like COD at all," but I'm still skeptical. There's clearly a Skinner box mechanism at work here, where players have to rank up and earn experience points to unlock new weapons and abilities... just like in COD!. It'd be nice if 343I would explain how all this works, but even asking for that might be too much to ask for, what with Frank's comments in his interview with The Guardian ("[T]rying to allay fears is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. You just have to believe in what you're doing."). Sure, E3 isn't done yet and there's still five months until launch, but I'm getting the feeling that 343I isn't going to bother giving us much in the way of details when it comes to new mechanics and the new player investment system. The Campaign looks really interesting and I look forward to it, but 343I has not sold me on their vision of multiplayer yet.
