*IMGs* Motion Capture Actor for a SPARTAN-II

A motion capture actor for a SPARTAN-II? I know just the people!

I'm not entirely certain how motion capture works, so I'm not going to claim to be an expert by any means, but I'm pretty sure that the motion of the person is far more important than the size of the person. I believe that all that's going into the computer is the relative positions of the "dots" from the actor as movements are recorded.

The movements of augmented SPARTAN-IIs while in MJOLNIR are described repeatedly as graceful, robotic, and unnatural (in the cool, good way). Motions come to mind from movies like "I, Robot" and other films where there is great fluidity and precision to the movements. Don't forget that S2s are absolutely cyborgs.

So, were I the person in charge of this choice, then, in a perfect world, I would absolutely have Bruce Lee as my motion capture guy.

Now, if his build was a problem (for example, a SPARTAN-IIs shoulders are farther apart than Bruce Lee's shoulders were, and if the computer is measuring the dots' relative positions, then that might matter), then I'd probably choose someone, preferably an experienced martial artist, with a build like Gregg Plitt's as seen here:

Although, it might be nice to have a guy that approaches being as big as a SPARTAN, such as Nathan Jones, seen in Troy and many other movies, who stands 1 inch shy of 7 feet tall.

To me, Nathan Jones is a bit more bulky and slow-looking than what you'd want for a S2, though.

Now, as far as whether such people exist, I'm not sure. Ray Park did an excellent job as Darth Maul, and I remember liking what I saw of Snake Eyes, whom he also played in the GI Joe movie.

But then there's Michael Jai White, who has a decent build AND is a martial artist. He played Spawn in the film of the same name and has been in several many films otherwise.

Here is a decent reference of his abilities with traditional, non-augmented movement. I fast-forwarded for you so that it jumps right into the good part.

At the end of the day, it will take a lot of work to pull off a true S2 as they would move in MJOLNIR powered assault armor.

Also, this may or may not be relevant to what we're wrapping our brains around over at Venerance.net, lol.
