PC is a location, not a device. The location defines the input method. The input method defines the utility, the audience and the ease of experience. Ultimately there's no difference between a PC and a console at the 10,000 foot level, but the locations are wildly different.

And so, therefore, are the experiences. I had a couple of decades of sitting at a flimsy desk with a painful and expensive PC, and happily traded it in for a couch and a huge display. YMMV.

What irritates me is when zealots (and of course there are console zealots too) literally lie about the ease and cost of the experience to make new adherents. Who cares what other people want to do? If you like adding $400 graphics cards to your PC every two years, go nuts. If someone else would rather play Sonic in their underwear, who are we to judge?
