It's apparent that much of the furor over bloom is that the DMR functions differently from the BR and not that people have a problem with bloom in general. Finding the appropriate rhythm is not difficult if you actually try, instead of just mashing the trigger. Players who acknowledge this seem to take issue mainly with the slower pace of the firefights. From what I've observed in-game, I don't know if you could speed up the pace of the game without nullifying the effect of bloom as they seem to go hand in hand - the whole point of bloom was the slow the game down and force players to make smarter choices, wasn't it? An alternative would be to lock the rate of fire on the DMR to match the ideal medium-range bloom-induced pacing, but then it probably can't function ideally at close or long range - I figured the point was to give players three modes of fire without turning the gun into instant death. Is any of this right? I can't speak for everybody but pacing shots in Reach feels rewarding and I don't ever feel like I got cheated by somebody who wasn't.
