Visible ranks : are the most notable form of e-peen bragging ("Look at my awesome : 50/General Grade 4/Inheritor!" The biggest problem with Reach : specifically is how it doles out credits, which encourages people to farm : kills in MM even when not playing Slayer gametypes. It would've been much : better if credits were based primarily if not solely on wins, with the : loser getting only a fraction of the credits (there's been many objectives : matches where my team won even though we did worse K/D-wise). I'd even go : so far as say that any stat tracking shouldn't include your overall K/D or : medals in MM, though those things are so ingrained with the Halo player : base that most would complain of such omissions. Whatever is done in Halo : 4, 343i needs to make sure that people are encouraged to play the game : just to play the game (i.e., for fun and/or competition), and not to worry : about their ranks or whatever. I would agree with the statement that objective gametypes too often fall prey to kill-happy players who don't necessarily even care about the objective but will happily take the huge cR payout for attacking any members of the opposition who are trying to play. That said, it would be better if the payouts were related to whatever the objective is. Track K/D for all I care, but that shouldn't factor into the payout at all in objective gametypes save for particular objective-based medals (e.g. Killed Oddball Carrier, Flag Kill). The only problem I can see is that people who eschew going directly for the objective to act as "defense" may get screwed out of cR. I'll admit that I routinely go for the sniper rifle on Hemorrhage in Hog Potato games so as to be able to take out the 'hog if it looks like the enemy will get to it first. It annoys me no end, though, when I choose not to grab the sniper rifle and someone on my team does and then proceeds to spawn camp the enemy team without paying any attention to the objective.
