It also said Naomi's wearing a Mark VII (by a "new supplier", apparently), and I think it hasn't been stated that the Mark VI had the same tech. Also if that's really the story explanation for the changes, it would mean that for some reason, the nanotech in the suit would make it look radically different when "repairing" it, without external resources. Not to mention I dislike the whole idea of magical all-repairing nanotechnology and would like it to stay as far away from Halo as possible. The whole Mark Seven thing also seemed a bit stupid to me; so this means we get a new armor generation about three months after the last one, when there's only a handful of people left who can even use it? Compare this to the life cycle of the Mark IV, which was in use for some 26 years, or even Mark V, which was in service a little less than a year.
